Acai Berry Diet Lies

If you have not been paying much attention to the media lately, there has been a ton of talk about a little purple colored fruit called the acai berry and lots of talk about the so called acai berry diet. Unfortunately, some of the talk is based on lies and half-truths but we are used to that when a product is hot.
The acai berry is grown in Brazil and harvested from the acai palm. The tree generally grows in floodlands and swampy areas. Acai has actually been used by the local people of Brazil for hundreds of years. They eat it fresh, and also use it in all kinds of products like drinks, smoothies, and even ice cream.
Similar to what happened with the hoodia plant, the American media got information on the power of acai berry and it has been going crazy since that time. In the case of Hoodia, it was a mention on the 60 Minutes television show that helped to launch its popularity. She pretty much told the world that hoodia did work and helped to curb her appetite so everyone wanted to buy it.
Once the demand begins to skyrocket, manufacturers and marketers go ballistic in trying to be the first ones to market and carve out their piece of the pie. Like with most things sold around the world, and this is especially true for the internet, some companies do it the right way and some like to push the envelope in terms of what is right and wrong.
Getting back to the Acai Berry Diet, companies and marketers are definitely starting to stretch the truth when it comes to acai, and the worse part about that is the fact that it's not really needed.
Acai berry has pretty much been shown to be one of the top fruits on the planet. There have been some independent studies done on it, some doctor reviews of it, and of course the much needed celebrity endorsements on how great it is.
One of the biggest endorsements, and ultimately promotions, of the acai berry craze is probably the Oprah show. It's not because she or her guests said anything wild or outlandish to get everybody excited to buy it because she doesn't need to do that.
Once Oprah presents something to her guests, an amazing thing happens that even the top marketers can't achieve and that's massive sales. That's exactly what happened with acai berry and ultimately what's being mislabeled as the "acai berry diet." The trend for being healthy and using acai had started before the show mentioned it, but she definitely had something to do with its meteoric rise as the fruit to eat if you want to be healthy and lose weight.
In reality, it was two of Oprah's frequent guests that probably had the most impact on helping to educate the world about Acai. Dr. Perricone, who is a New York Times Best Selling Author, described acai as nature's perfect energy food. He also crowned it #1 on his Top 10 Superfoods List.
On this list are several fruits and vegetables that contain all kinds of great ingredients that help us nutritionally and health wise filled with things like fiber, amino acids, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, vitamins and more.
Acai topped Dr. Perricone's list because it contained high amounts of antioxidants, essential fatty acids, fiber and other ingredients all at once while few of the other superfoods could make that same claim. He also mentions the power of acai in several of his books which helped to substantiate everything that was being said about this amazing fruit.
Another of Oprah's frequent guests is Dr. Oz. Dr. Oz also praised the benefits of acai and how good it was for us to eat. He also described how the antioxidants in acai could help us to protect our skin, eyes, heart, and other vital organs against free radicals and oxidation. What this means in a nutshell is that acai can help to fight against premature aging.
Any product that helps fight against aging is going to be popular and this is especially true when it comes to women. The only thing that may top that group is men and women looking for the next big weight loss secret.
Unfortunately, that's where the acai berry diet lies come into play. People are getting so excited about the potential of acai that they are getting out of control. For example, there was an ad today that was being displayed that said Rachel Ray lost all of her weight on acai berry. The ad carried her image and made it appear that she was directly endorsing the aforementioned acai berry diet.
The internet is so big and so broad that the average celebrity is used to their images being thrown around, and sometimes in some very unflattering ways, so chances are they are simply going to ignore such claims. However, you the consumer, should be made aware that some of the celebrity endorsed ads are false.
Again, you normally see that kind of thing when you don't have endorsements. In the case of acai, you have legitimate thumbs up from power celebrities, doctors, and others that say this stuff is great.
Another one of the common ads online shows Oprah and makes the claim that it is Oprah's New Acai Diet Plan. Some would argue that it is just a play on words and poor copywriting when it is probably closer to false advertising. Oprah does not have an acai diet plan, and nor does Rachel Ray. They are two celebrities that just so happened to mention the benefits of the fruit on their shows.
Does the acai berry help you to lose weight? Well, it can in terms of reducing fat absorption, recovery from workouts, improved energy and a host of other things. Dr. Perricone talks about the reduce fat absorption factor. But, it is not a fat burner. Acai in itself is not going to make you drop 25 pounds in 25 days as yet another site claims will happen. It is highly unlikely that a claim like that is anywhere close to reality.
So, what is reality? Reality is that acai is good for you. Another reality is that it does have strong endorsements from shows like Oprah's and doctors like Dr. Perricone and Dr. Oz. A University of Florida study even cites that in certain inside laboratory tests that acai was able to kill up to 86% of certain cancer cells.
As for the acai berry diet, the real reality is that it is normally paired with a natural colon cleanse and that has proven to be effective in creating weight loss. Therefore, the diet is not really based on acai berry alone but a combination of two products. With that said, there are a few companies that have enhanced their acai berry formulas with specific ingredients to help speed up the weight loss process.
Review the site below for more information on the acai berry diet using the side product of colon cleansers, or to see what kinds of ingredients are added to help with weight loss. It's important to be a smart shopper and this is especially true when a certain product is so hot that it generates unconfirmed hype or claims that are unverified and sometimes potentially dangerous.
